So, my job is to set the record straight in Ocean County. I will choose a topic weekly and give you the bottom-line truth through all the chatter you read, mailers, and text messages you receive. This week's topic is Toms River clubs.
You have all probably received information, one way or another, on this topic or have read about it. So, this is the bottom line of the situation: in 2021, a group of people met secretly in their offices in downtown Toms River to form a new Republican club after being part of the old club that is more than 30 years old.
During last year’s convention, the new club came out of the shadows with its leaders, Mayor Mo Hill and his council, Greg McGuckin, and Ginny Haines. With their new Chairman, Frank Holman, and Jerry Dasti, they pushed the old club out by changing the county bylaws. They did whatever they needed to do to win, including getting their yes-boy Jack Sahradnik to go along and bend his interpretation of the convention floor rules.
And why, you ask? This is the best part. Please listen to the reason because it will be important in the end.
Why? Here is why: these Republicans who came up with this backroom club and idea brand themselves as the heroes, and our new chairman, George Gilmore, as the bad guy. Ok, wait, let's stop here. This group of people have honestly kicked Chairman Gilmore when he was down like I have never seen.
Greg McGuckin, how much were your tax problems? Let’s start looking into his past tax issues, and if certain people didn't pay off your debts, where would you be today? Stop throwing stones, Glasshouse. The rest of you are too easy, Ginny, Gary Quinn, and Sheriff Mastronardy; you don't need to be honest with us, but at least be truthful to yourselves; where would you be without George Gilmore?
So, back to clubs. Very simple, George Gilmore was backing John Bacchione from Berkeley Township. John was the best choice for Commissioner. However, Frank Holman, Greg McGuckin, Jerry Dasti, and especially Ginny Haines we're not for having the best candidate win. They just wanted a vote they could control on the County dais.
You all know that John Bacchione was the best choice. You say, "But why is this so important? There are five commissioners on the board." Ginny has said it best, "3 beats 2," and with John out, Bobby Jo "I do what I am told" Crea, was the new “young” Republican Chairman Frank Holman was selling you. Toms River has the most votes for the county council, and they knew that the old club would have chosen John Bacchione, and he would have gone on to win on the convention floor. So, by changing the clubs, they got whom they wanted – Bobby Jo. And the rest is history that we will touch on later.
All I can say is that it’s very hypocritical to be upset about the potential re-certification of the old club when they did the same thing 1 year ago. It makes you wonder where they got their ideas for all these mailers. To the county council and everyone else… this is politics, and not everything is fair. Still, I have had enough of these backstabbing, horrible people paying bloggers to write about a man who gave them their political careers.
Time to put things back the way they were.
