TOMS RIVER, NJ – The Ocean County community came together to honor veterans and active-duty service members during the annual Veterans Day Parade. The event, which began at 9:45 a.m. at the Toms River Shopping Center, featured a procession of veterans, local organizations, and public officials.
The parade concluded on Washington Street, where attendees were greeted with a heartfelt ceremony. Reverend Michael M. Mazur opened with an invocation, while Samantha Parker, accompanied by the Toms River High School South Band, performed the National Anthem under a display of a giant American flag provided by local fire companies.
Dignitaries including former Mayor Paul Wnek and Toms River Council President Craig Coleman addressed the crowd, emphasizing the importance of recognizing veterans’ sacrifices. The Veterans Essay Contest winners, spanning intermediate and high school levels, were celebrated for their poignant reflections on patriotism and service.
Following a wreath-laying at the Veterans Memorial, a symbolic dove release marked the solemnity of the occasion.
The Grand Marshals, U.S. Army veterans Arnie Boyle and Bob Tweer, along with U.S. Navy veteran Lou Vella, were commended for their dedication both in uniform and within the Toms River community.
The event, coordinated by the Toms River Veterans Commission, was a powerful tribute to those who serve, blending tradition and heartfelt gratitude in the heart of Ocean County.
