Hooper Avenue Closure Announced for Maintenance Project Near Ocean County Courthouse

A maintenance project involving the overhead pedestrian walking bridge on Hooper Avenue in Toms River will result in a temporary road closure this weekend. The closure, scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 23, is necessary to facilitate construction work on the bridge that spans Hooper Avenue, near the Ocean County courthouse and administration building.

According to Ocean County officials, Hooper Avenue will be closed to all traffic from Washington Street to Madison Avenue from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday. The project aims to ensure the structural safety and longevity of the pedestrian bridge, which serves as a critical connection in the area.

Detour Information

Motorists are advised to use Madison Avenue as an alternate route to reach Hadley Avenue and Washington Street. Drivers approaching Hooper Avenue from Washington Street are instructed to turn onto Hadley Avenue and reconnect to Hooper Avenue via Madison Avenue. Detour signs will be posted to guide drivers during the closure hours.

Safety Advisory

Pedestrians are strongly encouraged to exercise caution and avoid the work zone if possible. Construction areas can pose risks, and officials are urging the public to prioritize safety by staying clear of the site while work is underway.

The temporary closure highlights Ocean County’s commitment to maintaining infrastructure and ensuring the safety of its facilities for residents and visitors alike. Residents should plan their travel routes accordingly to avoid delays and disruptions during the closure period.
